and Ladakh Tour Ladakh is bounded by world's two mightiest
mountain ranges the great Himalayan and the Karakoram, It lies athwart two
others The Ladakh and the Zanskar range. It lies at altitude ranging from
about 2,750m to 7,673m. The temperature in summer goes upto 27C and in
winter it drops down to minus 20C.
It leaves the first time traveler
awestruck by its geographical and cultural difference as they land at Leh.
The features of Ladakhi people, their clothes, dialects are similar to
Tibetan and Mongoloid then Indian. The Mons from Kullu and Tibet were the
first population immigrants to Ladakh as shepherds' nomads and settled down
near Indus River. Later drads and others immigrated to Lower Ladakh. Due to
cultural and geographical similarities Ladakh is popular among tourists as
Little Tibet.

Day
1: Delhi
Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport
Terminal II you are met and transferred to your prebooked Hotel. Upon
arrival at the hotel you are received with a traditional welcome of TIKKA
and ARTI. Rest of the day is relaxing and for free activities.
Day 2: Delhi
After Breakfast we visit Old Delhi, built in the
17th century by Shah Jehan the Magnificent (who also built the Taj Mahal).
First we will be visiting the famous Jama Masjid mosque with its 9,000 sq.
ft. courtyard, three domes and two minarets, and then proceed to the massive
complex known as the Red Fort. Afternoon well visit Lakshmi Narayan
Temple, a Spectacular structure thats just 60 years old , and then
proceed via India Gate and the Governmental building to Qutab Minar, the 240
foot tower built in 1190 to commemorate the arrival of Islam in India, the
Bahai Temple with its nine pools on an elevated platform, and the Crafts
Museum, which replicates and Indian street with over 50 artists and crafts
people at work.
Day 3 : Delhi - Amritsar
Early
morning we are transferred to the New Delhi railway Station to board our
train for Amritsar, the city of Golden Temple. Afternoon we visit the famous
Golden temple which is scared to the Sikh nation, here we will find time to
tune into the amazing spiritual centre and feel the power that inspires the
Sikh people worldwide. We continue our city tour and visit the Jallian walla
Bagh Martyrs Memmorial built in the shape of eternal flame of liberty
is situated on the outskirts of Golden Temple.Here about 1500 and 2000
persons who were attending a peaceful meeting during the freedom movement
fell under the bullets of the British General Dyer on 13 April 1919 and the
city of Amritsar.
Day 4: Amritsar - Dharamshala
Morning
after breakfast we depart for Dharmshala, a hill station full of natural
charm and beauty is situated in the Kangra Valley and spread over a height
of 450 metres. It is surrounded by the majestic Dhauladhar Ranges on three
sides. Tibetan settlements at Mecleodganj and Tibetan Library are the
treasure hunts of manuscripts and text and its ancient culture. The Dalai
Lamas Palace is next to his monastary at Dharamshala. The day is spent
walking around the Kangra Valley and mixing and talking with the Tibetan
Community.
Day 5: Dharamshala
Morning we start our
city tour of Dharmshala and visit the Dalai Lama s Monastery ,
Tibetian children village and handicraft centre, Bhagsunag and water fall
and the war memorial. Evening is spent relaxing.
Day
6:Dharamshala - Kullu Manali
Today morning we depart for our new and
exciting destination KULLU & MANALI. Upon arrival we check into our
prebooked hotel. Manali is a major resort in the Kullu Valley . According to
the legend its name is derived from Manu and Alaya, the abode of Manu.
Manali is synonymous with streams and birdsongs, forest and orchards and the
grandeur of the snowcapped Himalaya.
Day 7: Manali
Today
we leave for city tour of Manali, visiting the Hadimba Devi temple set
within dense Pine forest and to the Naggar Castle to have the stunning view
of the valley. Afternoon is spent walking around the Beas river and the
local market.
Day 8: Manali - Rohtang - Jispa
Morning
we start our drive through the Rohtang Pass (4,220m) to Jipsa visiting the
Gompa (monastery) of Khardong en route.
Day 9: Jispa - Sarchu
After
breakfast we depart for Sarchu the drive to the high barren mountains of the
Ladakh Valley. On our way we cross over the Baralacha la (4900 Mts.). It is
here that roads from Lahaul, Spiti, Zanskar and Leh meet. We reach Sarchu
(4200 Mts.) camp.
Day 10: Leh
After breakfast we
start our full day drive to Leh. Geographically and culturally, Leh is very
much part of Tibet and Tibetan influence pervades this desert land.

Day 11: Leh
Morning in Leh is kept free for the purpose of
getting acclimatise to the height and weather. Afternoon we do a sightseeing
tour to Shankar Gompa, Shantistupa and Leh Palace..
Day 12:
Leh - Shey - Thiksey
After breakfast full day sightseeing to Shey ,
old summer palace of the Kings of Ladakh and was built about 560 year ago.
It has a 12 meter high seated Buddha images. From here we proceed to Thiksey
, the monastery is very picturesque and superbly sited on a hilltop
overlooking the village and we now would proceed on to Hemis , one of the
largest and the most important Gompas in Ladakh, with its excellent library
wall paintings and Buddha figures.
Day 13: Thiksey - Likir
-Alchi
After breakfast we start a full day excursion visiting the
monastery of Likir and Alchi to see the gigantic painted clay statues of
Buddha, carved arches and old paintings.
Day 14: Alchi - Leh
- Delhi
Today morning we are transferred to the airport for flight
to Delhi.Please note that the Leh flight is purely dependent on the weather
conditions in Leh. Incase of cancellation we will have to try for the next
day flight.We take no guarantee of the flight.
Day 15: Delhi
Rest
of the day at leisure.Transfer to airport for flight to Onwards journey.
