Pushkar,one of the jewels of the great desert of Rajasthan, is a famous holy town. It is here amongst the Temples and Ghats surrounding the holy lake, that Brahma, the creator, dropped a lotus flower and performed a vedic YAGNA during the month of Kartika which gives birth to the Pushkar Festival. Pushkar palace is the best place to stay on the side of the lake, built about 400 years ago by the Maharaja of Kishangarh. Situated on the edge of the lake it offers a panoramic view of 400 temples, banks, sand dunes and the Aravalli hills.

ROYAL CAMP, Pushkar
The Royal Camp captures the luxurious nostalgia of a bygone era of royal safari and shikar camps. The tents have been innovatively crafted using the traditional skills and crafts of Marwar. The Camp consists of individual tents, each with a verandah, a bedroom and a bathroom. There is a large dining tent serving the best of Rajasthani cuisine. The Camp is located in a large private site overlooking the Mela ground and flanked by open fields and hills. The Mela ground is within easy walking distance and the town of Pushkar can be approached on foot or camel, through the Mela, or by car along the road. A campfire is focal point for the evenings entertainment programme with the rhythms of the Thar desert folk music, dances, magic and puppet shows.

ROYAL DESERT CAMP, Pushkar
The origin of camping in a Royal Style can be traced to the battle times of Mughal Emperor Babar, and later Jahangir, who while visiting Kashmir on a pleasure trip, set up a full Royal Camp with paraphernalia for his comforts and entertainment. This tradition continued with Rajput rulers as well, for their hunting trips, outdoor evenings, marriage parties and Royal gatherings, where folk dance performances, drinks and special meals on a Royal setting were provided.
